Voice as Environment

Rochester, Minn. — Investigative journalist and multimedia producer Lisa Loucks-Christenson will release an original music album in 2027 inspired by winter fieldwork in a Minnesota oak savanna.
The project, titled Lost Words, features Loucks-Christenson’s original songwriting, vocals and environmental recordings collected while producing nature and wildlife documentaries.
The album blends natural soundscapes — including wind, snow movement and wildlife activity — with vocal compositions designed to reflect the progression of a winter day from sunrise to sunset.
Loucks-Christenson said the work developed organically during time spent recording in the field.
“These were not planned music sessions,” she said. “They were moments of observation that revealed structure and meaning through sound.”
The album emphasizes minimal interference with natural environments, using authentic recordings rather than studio-generated effects.
Lost Words will be released through lisalcmusic.com and is expected to be part of a broader multimedia effort connecting Loucks-Christenson’s documentary, writing and music work.
