Over 40-years experience working independently and with other journalists, as an outdoors documentarian, news reporter, photographer, investigative reporter but also as an illustrator and talk show host interviewing celebrities, entertainment, artists, businesses, non-profits, corporation, law enforcement, and more.

 

Lisa Loucks-Christenson covers single assignments, licensed stock or assignment photos and illustrations to complex, multi-layered reporting. Lisa knows how to find news, unusual and under-reported stories, human interest stories, slice-of-life, write features and write investigative stories. Hours, weeks, months, or years go into every book, every story, every article, every broadcast. This happens by Lisa’s way of gathering her evidence and photos through observation, interviews, statistics, databases, research, and cultivated sources that come with years of networking and experience. As a lifelong learner, Lisa continues her education, taking new classes in any subject to help her career, meet new people, and to find unexplored opportunities.

 

During the Summer 2007 Flood, Lisa was the only journalist allowed into the flooded town of Elba, Minnesota. The National Guard was not allowing anyone else in. She shared her footage on local news. She covered the interviews, flood damage, and documented her bald eagle documentary—all on the heels of a major flood, claiming six lives hours before she arrived on the scene. Her book, “Where Eaglets Sleep: The 2007 Floods” shares her interviews, photos, and eagle project area in southeast Minnesota.

 

Lisa’s covered stories featuring the known and unknown, including assignments and stories on President George Bush, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Mayo Clinic, celebrities, entertainers, authors, artists, evangelists, and the homeless, forgotten and beaten down. She’s covered wildlife and environmental news. She’s covered breaking news, accidents, fire, storm, weather, government, and crime. Nothing keeps her back. Her easy approach and kind-hearted interviewing style has allowed her the opportunity to interview people from all walks of life. Lisa believe that everyone has a story to get out, and she uses her skills and platform, publishers and store to make them known.

 

Lisa says, “As a seasoned journalist, I know the value of validating my sources, following leads, deciding on the story angle, the tone to use, and how to use quotes, but what is most important, today, more than ever before, is knowing how to share compassion and empathy pitted against, quite often lawlessness and greed, violence, and injustice.”

 

When photographing a story can be expressed as giving someone a thousand words, Lisa strives to write a thousand word story, picture. Giving voice and a story to those who have limited chances or no other way to express their views, reporting changes, interviewing and connecting to people who share their sensitive and hard-to-express stories that engage others is what Lisa brings to her award-winning stories.”
